There cannot be a better time to bring Bike Friendly Lakewood to life. We believe our community will thrive with the qualities a bike friendly life style provides. Accepting bicycles as a part of our daily lives means safer, happier and healthier streets.

Lakewood lacks pedestrian traffic because of an urban planning that revolves around automobiles. Bicycles will make us closer to the ground. It will create a larger walk in traffic for local stores. Our children will pay more attention to what is going around them while on their saddles than being glued to 7 inch screens zipping down the streets. Being and staying healthy is a whole lot easier than trying to gain it back and what makes your heart beat faster than pedalling up Swiss Avenue! Lakewood will first need to accept bicycle commuting as an attitude then a character and ultimately a life style. Once the wheels start spinning we will want more and more of it.

We want to thank our friends in Bike Friendly Oak Cliff, Richardson, Knox-Henderson and North Shore (New Zealand believe it or not) for inspiring us.
